🎥 Reel Themes

These are the 12 key ideas and formats that perform particularly well on our platforms.

Pick a theme, shoot and then send the footage to us!

The Hook

Suggested Script

(30 seconds max. 15 seconds or less is even better!)

Example

Just Landed!

Announce a new product you have just launched in your Yumbles shop.

Clip 1 - a close-up of your product

Clip 2 - you holding up your product and speaking to camera

  • introducing yourself in a friendly, personable way.
  • explain your new product, what it is and why it is special. Show your enthusiasm.
  • end with “This is  now live in our Yumbles shop. Let us know what you think!”

How it’s Made

A video showing how your product is made step by step.

Clip 1 - a close-up of your finished product.

Clip 2+  A video clip for each key step in your process.  A top down shot usually works best here.

Last Clip - show the end product again. Perhaps add a thumbs up or a little wiggle of your product, chance to show a little personality!

Meet the Maker

A simple video showing you / your team, your workspace, and then close-ups of your star products.

We will run this kind of footage in a range of creative ways - adding a hook text overlay and caption that catches attention.

E.g. hook overlay (Small Biz Owner: show what you make)

Clip 1 - you in your workspace  waving to camera or dancing or whatever suits your brand personality. This shot simply aims to show you the person and connect.

Clip 2 - a few seconds view your workspace

Clip 3 - a few seconds clip of you or your team making your products in progress

Clips 4 to 5  - a couple seconds each of a few of your star products up close and looking fabulous.

This example reel by The Vegan Bakes is oh so simple but effective.

And with similar footage but used with a different hook, is this reel also by The Vegan Bakes

Maker’s 10-Second Tour
“Come into our bakery in 5seconds”

5 clips, 2 seconds each:

Clip 1 - show your outside sign / your door.
Clip 2 - walking through your workspace.
Clip 3 -  show any part of your production process in the workspace.
Clip 4 - show the order packing area
Clip 5 - show you/ some of your team waving to camera, from within the workspace.

Why Do We XXXX

A video showcasing some interesting fact that might surprise people about your products / process.

Clip 1 - start with the hook - using either a text overlay or someone saying to camera  “Why do we …”

Clips 2+ Show clips related to the surprising fact, with text overlays or voiceover as needed to explain.

Make X with Us

A quick video tutorial showing how to make something with your products. E.g. a charcuterie board.

Clip 1 - show the end product being held close to camera.

Clip 2+  A video clip for each key step in the process.  If you can add some voiceover but not essential if the steps are clear.

Last Clip - show the end product again.

Pack an Order with Me
Satisfying and trust building footage showing behind the scenes.

1 to 2 second clips of each step of your packing process. See this reel by Little Often & Always

Unboxing
Show the experience of opening a delivery from you.

Particularly great for gifting items where packaging/ presentation and the big reveal is everything.

Can also work well for perishables to show how well they travel and arrive.

A few seconds of each clip:

Clip 1 - Sealed Box

Clip 2 - Breaking the Seal

Clip 3 - Top down opening of the box

Clip 4 - Close-ups of items inside (taking them out one by one if multiple items)

This reel by the Chuckling Cheese Company shows the unboxing of one of their cheese gift boxes.

Top 5 Custom Orders

If you make personalised/ custom items then showcase some of the most interesting items you have made in the past 12 months.

Send us a video comprised of various video clips of 5 custom orders OR a compilation of still images made into a reel.

The Blindfold Challenge

Have members of your team compete to either complete a step in the making your products or a taste test of your products (e.g. to recognise which flavour it is).

A 2-3 second clip of each team member completing the blindfolded task or taste test, and their response.

Add a simple text overlay to each clip with the team members name; and then a score for their effort.

This reel by Baked by Steph had Steph and her team compete to decorate their cupcakes blindfolded.

And in this reel Rachel’s Kitchen had their own fun take on a blind challenge.

The Best Thing

...about being a chocolatier, baker etc  A fun way to show a desirable aspect in the life of a food maker.

One simple short and engaging clip showing you enjoying your product in your workspace - tasting the batter, the melted chocolate etc

Keep this one under 15 seconds.

See this reel by Luisa of Luisa’s Vegan Chocolates that confirms what we all knew about the charmed life of the chocolatier.

Reel Trends

Keep an eye on the latest trending reels and create a little video with the same caption and approach.

Approach depends on the trend! See how others have done it.

Deliver the hook message (as a text overlay) on clip 1 so viewers instantly recognise the trend reel.

This fun reel by the Sawley kitchen hit on the “How people think a business owner arrives at work” trend
